Bachelor of Science Program in Health Data Science

Program Title
(Thai): หลักสูตรวิทยาศาสตรบัณฑิต สาขาวิชาวิทยาศาสตร์ข้อมูลสุขภาพ
(English): Bachelor of Science Program in Health Data Science

Degree Awarded
(Thai): วิทยาศาสตรบัณฑิต (วิทยาศาสตร์ข้อมูลสุขภาพ)
(English): Bachelor of Science (Health Data Science)

The Bachelor of Science in Health Data Science program is offered under the collaboration between the Faculty of Medicine, Srisavangavadhana, Chulabhorn Royal Academy, and the Faculty of Engineering, King Mongkut’s University of Technology Thonburi (KMUTT). Launched in 2018 (Academic Year 2561), it is the first undergraduate program in Health Data Science in Thailand and ASEAN, designed to address the rapid expansion of health-related data and the growing demand for data scientists in healthcare. This pioneering program equips graduates with the ability to manage and analyze vast amounts of health data generated daily—from medical records, pharmaceutical data, research outputs, and health applications—supporting Thailand’s transition into Thailand 4.0.

The program aims to produce graduates with strong knowledge and skills in data science applied to healthcare, contribution to solving challenges in Thailand’s public health and medical systems, highly sought after by hospitals, government agencies (e.g., Ministry of Public Health), insurance companies, health-related businesses, and research institutes, while being able to apply their expertise in broader business sectors or pursue graduate studies in medicine, molecular sciences, public health, computer science, actuarial mathematics, and related fields. Moreover, graduates are expected to become professionals capable of critical thinking, data analysis, and health data processing, applying insights to improve healthcare delivery and public health systems, while contributing to national development.

Data Science integrates probability, statistics, mathematics, and programming to extract insights from large datasets, enabling problem-solving and predictive modeling (e.g., housing price prediction, facial recognition systems).

Health Data Science is a specialized branch of data science focusing on healthcare applications. It incorporates knowledge in: Disease and epidemiology, Anatomy and body systems, Healthcare systems and services. This interdisciplinary approach allows graduates to effectively analyze and apply health-related data for impactful outcomes.
