The “Srisavangavadhana Award” Project was inaugurated in 2021 with the objective of honoring Professor Dr. Her Royal Highness Princess Chulabhorn Krom Phra Srisavangavadhana. The project was established to carry forward Her Royal Highness’s vision of inspiring and encouraging healthcare institutions that demonstrate excellence in providing medical services to the public, particularly in remote areas. It also aims to identify exemplary healthcare facilities that can serve as models for other public health institutions.

In 2024, Sub-district Health Promoting Hospitals were transferred to the Provincial Administrative Organization (PAO), in accordance with the Decentralization Act of 1999. This transition marked a significant opportunity to strengthen collaboration among Chulabhorn Royal Academy, Ministry of Public Health, Ministry of Interior, and Department of Local Administration in jointly advancing and supporting the enhancement of medical and public health services to ensure nationwide coverage.

On Thursday, May 8, 2025, at the Krom Phra Srisavangavadhana Building, Chulabhorn Hospital, Professor Dr. Her Royal Highness Princess Chulabhorn Krom Phra Srisavangavadhana graciously delivered a royal address at the presentation ceremony of the “Srisavangavadhana Award” for the year 2024. In part, Her Royal Highness stated:

“Medical development is a mechanism to elevate the health and quality of life of the people. Equally important, however, is the creation of opportunities for access to medical services for those in remote areas, marginalized communities, and disadvantaged groups. Ensuring that they can receive care from specialists and appropriate treatment is essential for medical development to be truly comprehensive—combining both the quality of medical capacity and the quality of medical services.”

The Executives of Chulabhorn Royal Academy, Minister of Public Health, Deputy Minister of Interior, Permanent Secretary of Ministry of Interior, Deputy Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Public Health, Directors-General of Department of Local Administration, Department of Medical Services, Department of Mental Health, and Department of Disease Control, together with chief inspectors from both ministries, physicians, nurses, and staffs of Chulabhorn Royal Academy, all pledged to embrace Her Royal Highness’s royal guidance as a framework for earnest implementation in their work.

This prestigious award represents the excellence, dignity, and pride of public health organizations. In 2025, the “Srisavangavadhna Award” became a driving force for healthcare institutions nationwide, advancing organizational capacity through a two-dimensional strategy:

(1) Medical Services and
(2) Networking, Engagement, and Public Accessibility.

The initiative supports inclusive healthcare for all groups—remote communities, people with complex disabilities, and diverse populations—aligned with the Sustainable Development Goal principle of “Leaving No One Behind (LNOB).”

The Chulabhorn Royal Academy, together with Ministry of Public Health, Ministry of Interior, and Department of Local Administration, continues to refine and commit to the nomination and selection process across all health regions (excluding Bangkok) to identify potential and appropriate institutions that exemplify the philosophy: “Be Excellent for Lives.”
