Professor Dr. HRH Princess Chulabhorn Krom Phra Srisavangavadhana Presides Over the "1 Decade: 11th Anniversary of Princess Srisavangavadhana Faculty of Medicine" Opening Ceremony at Chulabhorn Royal Academy

BANGKOK, May 18, 2026 — Professor Dr. HRH Princess Chulabhorn Krom Phra Srisavangavadhana traveled to the Princess Srisavangavadhana College of Medicine Building

Chulabhorn Royal Academy in Laksi District, Bangkok, to officially open the celebratory event "1 Decade: 11th Anniversary of the Founding of the Princess Srisavangavadhana Faculty of Medicine" and attend a special academic lecture. Her Royal Highness was warmly received by the executive committee, faculty, and students of Chulabhorn Royal Academy.

During the ceremony, Associate Professor Teerapat Ungtrakul M.D., Acting Dean of Princess Srisavangavadhana Faculty of Medicine, presented the Commemorative Booklet to Her Royal Highness. Professor Emeritus Dr. Rajata Rajatanavin, Acting Deputy Secretary-General of Chulabhorn Royal Academy, then delivered a report outlining the objectives of the event.

 Following her royal opening address, Her Royal Highness attended a distinguished keynote lecture titled “Cellular Therapies for Malignant Brain Tumors,” delivered by Professor Dr. Lukas Bunse from the German Cancer Research Center (DKFZ). Her Royal Highness also viewed a commemorative exhibition detailing the history of the college, alongside a showcase of outstanding, internationally award-winning research and innovations developed by the faculty and students.

The Princess Srisavangavadhana Faculty of Medicine was established through the far-reaching vision of Her Royal Highness, who remains deeply committed to strengthening the nation’s healthcare system sustainably. Founded on May 18, 2015, as the 'the School of Medicine and Public Health' as the first academic institution under Chulabhorn Hospital, Chulabhorn Foundation. The institution was created to address national shortages in medical professionals, nurses, and allied health sciences. Following the enactment of the Chulabhorn Royal Academy Act of 2559 (2016) The school was renamed the "Faculty of Medicine and Public Health" and transferred to the Princess Chulabhorn College of Medical Science

Chulabhorn Royal Academy With the aspiration of becoming an internationally standardised medical faculty offering a modern programme suited to 21st-century students. The faculty was subsequently granted the new name "Princess Srisavangavadhana College of Medicine," officially approved by the Chulabhorn Royal Academy Council on 8 October 2021, in honor of President of Chulabhorn Royal Academy on the auspicious occasion of Her Royal Highness's 64th birthday. Later, following the Royal Thai Government Gazette regarding the establishment of Departments and Assignment of Duties of the Chulabhorn Royal Academy B.E. 2568 (2025) on 2 January 2025, the institution was officially renamed to “Princess Srisavangavadhana Faculty of Medicine.” Over the past 11 years, the institution has continually expanded its curriculum to offer comprehensive bachelor's, master's, and doctoral programs, alongside driving community outreach initiatives such as the Asa Chulabhorn (Chulabhorn Volunteer) project.

This 11th-anniversary milestone stands as a testament to the institution's rapid advancement and serves as a vital platform to showcase its future-ready medical innovations. Moving forward, the college reaffirms its ultimate vision: "To be a leading medical institution driving transformation in the healthcare system for sustainable well-being, driven by the spirit of the Giver, the Inventor, and the Doctor of the Future.
