On Friday, June 19, 2026, Professor Dr. Her Royal Highness Princess Chulabhorn Krom Phra Srisavangavadhana, graciously granted an audience at the Meeting Room, 11th Floor of the Agrarajakumari Building, Chulabhorn Hospital. During the audience, Clinical Professor Emeritus Piyasakol Sakolsatayadorn, M.D., Chairman of the Mahidol University Council, accompanied by the university’s executive committee and members of the Faculty of Pharmacy, humbly presented Her Royal Highness with an Honorary Doctor of Pharmacy Degree for the academic year 2024.
The presentation of this honorary degree is in recognition of Her Royal Highness’s exceptional expertise, perseverance, and dedication to medical sciences, pharmacy, and public health. It also honors her tireless royal duties in research, development, and the production of pharmaceuticals for the well-being of the Thai people. Throughout the years, Her Royal Highness has laid a concrete foundation for national drug development through major initiatives, including:
• Establishment of the Bioproducts Research and Development Center: Founded under the Chulabhorn Research Institute, the center aims to enhance national capabilities in comprehensive biopharmaceutical research and production, spanning from upstream to downstream processes. This led to the successful development of "Trastuzumab"—a biosimilar drug used to treat various types of cancer, particularly breast cancer. The drug has been officially registered by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) under the royally bestowed name "HERDARA".
• Establishment of the Chulabhorn Royal Pharmaceutical Manufacturing Facility: Initiated under the Chulabhorn Royal Academy, this facility is Thailand’s first international-standard manufacturing plant for cancer treatment medicines. Her Royal Highness chose to focus on the production of targeted cancer therapies, which are highly effective and used to treat multiple types of cancer. This resulted in the creation of "IMCRANIB 100", the first targeted cancer therapy tablet manufactured in Thailand.
In light of her profound brilliance and royal benevolence, which have yielded immense benefits to the fields of pharmacy, medicine, and public health in Thailand, the Mahidol University Council unanimously resolved (at its 619th meeting on Wednesday, August 20, 2025) to humbly present Her Royal Highness with the Honorary Doctor of Pharmacy Degree, along with the academic gown and cap.
