
Faculty of Engineering, Chulabhorn Royal Academy Hosts “3 Minute Talk” Competition to Ignite Youth Innovation in Medical Engineering
Bangkok (August 15, 2026) — The Chulabhorn Royal Academy is actively fostering youth potential in science, technology, and innovation by organizing the “3 Minute Talk Contest: World-Changing Engineering Concepts in Medicine.” Held at the Auditorium on the 3rd floor of the HRH Princess Chulabhorn College of Medical Science building, the project provides a platform for young minds to showcase their creativity and share engineering concepts aimed at solving modern healthcare challenges, while inspiring the thinkers, engineers, and innovators of tomorrow.
This competition aims to create a learning space bridging the fields of “Engineering” and “Medicine,” while cultivating critical thinking, systematic problem-solving, and effective communication skills. The major highlight of the event was the “3 Minute Talk” final round, featuring the top 20 finalists selected from over 208 entries nationwide, alongside the Popular Vote winner. These finalists took the stage to pitch their ideas to a panel of expert judges within a strict 3-minute limit, followed by a 5-minute Q&A session.
The opening ceremony was honored by Dr. Sriyada Palimaphan, Advisor to the Minister of Higher Education, Science, Research and Innovation (MHESI), attending as the representative of the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of MHESI, who delivered the opening remarks. Welcoming remarks were given by Prof. Emeritus Dr. Rachata Rachatanavin, Acting Deputy Secretary-General of the Chulabhorn Royal Academy, and the project objectives were presented by Asst. Prof. Dr. Pornpop Nainetr, Acting Dean of the Faculty of Engineering at the Chulabhorn Royal Academy.
Additionally, the event featured a special keynote lecture titled “Engineering That Changes the Medical World” delivered by Mr. Pongchai Amatanon, Chairman of the Executive Board of Forth Corporation Public Company Limited and founder of the "Tao Bin" robotic café. He shared insights and experiences to inspire youth on the power of engineering, technology, and innovation in shaping novel solutions for future healthcare, well-being, and quality of life.
The winners of the “3 Minute Talk: World-Changing Engineering Concepts in Medicine” competition are as follows:
• Winner (First Prize): Project titled "Sign Language to Text System for Initial Symptom Reporting" by Ms. Napichaya Sakon from Chulabhorn Science High School Lampart.
• 1st Runner-Up & Popular Vote Winner: Project titled "Closed-Loop Dual-Acoustic Lung-Cancer Exosome Extractor" by Ms. Phimpunya Thongchai from Ubolratana Rajakanya Ratchawittayalai Phatthalung School.
• 2nd Runner-Up: Project titled "Stroke Safety Guard Necklace" by Mr. Patha Khamsenyatham from Rayong Wittayakom School.
Following the announcement, an award and certificate presentation ceremony was presided over by Dr. Sriyada Palimaphan, Prof. Emeritus Dr. Rachata Rachatanavin, and Asst. Prof. Dr. Pornpop Nainetr, who congratulated all the winners.
The successful organization of the “3 Minute Talk: World-Changing Engineering Concepts in Medicine” project marks another milestone for the Chulabhorn Royal Academy in empowering youth to showcase their creative potential. By integrating science, technology, engineering, and medicine (STEM) to address future health challenges, the initiative reflects the Academy's dedication to inspiring the younger generation and nurturing them into visionary "innovators" ready to translate knowledge into practical medical innovations for the sustainable enhancement of Thailand's public health and quality of life.
