Professor Dr. HRH Princess Chulabhorn Krom Phra Srisavangavadhana Donates 690,000 Tablets of Targeted Cancer Drug “IMCRANIB 100” to NHSO to Celebrate Her 69th Birthday Anniversary

BANGKOK – On Thursday, May 7, 2026, at 09:00 AM, Professor Dr. Her Royal Highness Princess Chulabhorn Krom Phra Srisavangavadhana, President and Chancellor of Chulabhorn Royal Academy Council, presided over the “Srisavangavadhana Awards” 2025 ceremony at the Princess Srisavangavadhana College of Medicine Building, Chulabhorn Royal Academy, Lak Si, Bangkok.  On this auspicious occasion, Her Royal Highness granted an audience to Jadej Thammatacharee M.D., Secretary-General of the National Health Security Office (NHSO), to receive the royal donation of "IMCRANIB 100," a targeted cancer medication.

This donation, totaling 690,000 tablets, is part of the “Royal Cancer Medication Project in Honor of Her Royal Highness’s 69th Birthday Anniversary” on July 4, 2026. The medication will be distributed to cancer patients under the Universal Health Coverage scheme, providing equitable access to advanced medical treatment for all.

Vision for National Health and Self-Reliance
With great foresight and expertise in medical science and pharmacology, Her Royal Highness recognizes that the "well-being of the people" is the fundamental pillar of national development. She established the Chulabhorn Royal Academy to serve as a cornerstone of national public health and founded the Chulabhorn Royal Pharmaceutical Manufacturing Facility at Pimarnmas Pavilion in 2020. This facility aims to complete the ecosystem for medical research, pharmacy, and oncology in a sustainable manner.

The Chulabhorn Royal Pharmaceutical Manufacturing Facility is the first facility in Thailand to produce cancer medications that meet international standards of Good Manufacturing Practice and Good Distribution Practice (PIC/s GMDP). It possesses the capability to scale pharmacy research into industrial production, ensuring an adequate supply of cancer drugs within Thailand and reducing the financial burden of importing expensive medications from abroad. This royal initiative also fosters specialized skills in drug formulation, quality control, and pharmacological testing among Thai personnel, significantly enhancing Thailand's pharmaceutical security.

IMCRANIB 100: A Thai Pharmaceutical Milestone
Guided by a policy of meticulous research and comprehensive patient care, Her Royal Highness has taken a keen interest in targeted therapies, specifically tyrosine kinase inhibitors. These drugs are highly effective, offer fewer side effects, and are widely accepted by oncologists for treating various types of cancer. "IMCRANIB 100" marks a historic milestone as the first targeted cancer drug formulation manufactured entirely in Thailand. It was registered with the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) on May 20, 2025, and was officially listed in the Thai Innovation Account on March 30, 2026.  "IMCRANIB 100" is a targeted therapy drug that acts as a Tyrosine Kinase Inhibitor (TKI). It effectively inhibits the growth and spread of cancer cells, allowing for superior disease control and fewer side effects compared to traditional chemotherapy. This medication is used to treat various types of cancer, including Chronic Myeloid Leukemia (CML), Philadelphia chromosome-positive Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia (Ph+ ALL), Gastrointestinal Stromal Tumors (GIST), and a rare type of skin cancer known as Dermatofibrosarcoma Protuberans (DFSP).

Royal Compassion for the Thai People
Driven by her profound concern for the people’s welfare, Her Royal Highness directed that 690,000 tablets of IMCRANIB 100 be provided to the NHSO to ensure that patients suffering from cancer have equitable access to modern treatment, regardless of their economic status. This royal benevolence aims to improve the quality of life for all Thai citizens, fulfilling Her Royal Highness’s steadfast determination to alleviate suffering and promote public health—a source of immense gratitude for the people of Thailand.
