National Cyclotron and PET Centre, Chulabhorn Hospital, Earns IAEA International QUANUM Standard—Becoming a High-Standard Nuclear Medicine Centre of Thailand
The National Cyclotron and PET Centre at Chulabhorn Hospital has successfully passed the international QUANUM (Quality Management Audits in Nuclear Medicine Practices) audit by the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), reinforcing its leadership as Thailand’s high-standard nuclear medicine cyclotron facility.
From August 24–28, 2026, the QUANUM audit team evaluated the operations of the National Cyclotron and PET Centre under IAEA guidelines as part of the Ramathibodi IAEA Anchor Centre initiative (IAEA Regional Technical Cooperation Project RAS6114).
The comprehensive audit assessed all key nuclear medicine operations to ensure peak quality and safety standards:
• Organizational Management: Structured framework and systematic operational standards.
• Radiopharmaceutical Production: Quality control throughout the production of diagnostic and therapeutic radiopharmaceuticals.
• Diagnostic Technology: High-precision diagnostic imaging services using advanced PET/CT and PET/MRI technologies.
• Therapy and Radiation Protection: Robust radiation safety systems protecting patients, medical personnel, and the surrounding environment.
Securing the QUANUM accreditation marks a major milestone as the Centre approaches its 20th Anniversary on September 19, 2026. Having continuously transformed Thailand’s nuclear medicine landscape, the Centre remains dedicated to fulfilling the royal vision of Professor Dr. Her Royal Highness Princess Chulabhorn Krom Phra Srisavangavadhana, President of the Chulabhorn Royal Academy. The Centre continues to advance medical innovation, elevate precision diagnosis and treatment, achieve international status as a healthcare "Frontier," and deliver the highest confidence to all patients.
