The event featured deeply moving activities, including a commemorative video presentation titled "Memories and Pride of PSMD Medical Students," followed by an inspiring keynote address delivered by Professor Yuwares Sittichanbancha, M.D.
The primary objective of this ceremony was to instill in medical students a profound awareness of the meaning, value, and significance of the white coat. The coat stands as a universal symbol of goodness, ethics, and professional responsibility in medicine, marking the students' official acceptance into the healthcare team. It serves as a constant reminder for them to remain dedicated to their studies, gather clinical experience, and graduate as virtuous, compassionate, and highly competent physicians.
In another proud and memorable moment, the 5th-year medical students performed the CRA Anthem HRH Princess Chulabhorn Krom Phra Srisavangavadhana.
"The Princess of the People" to pay tribute and express their deepest gratitude to Professor Dr. HRH Princess Chulabhorn Krom Phra Srisavangavadhana, the Founder and President of Chulabhorn Royal Academy. The Academy was established to carry forward the royal vision of His Majesty King Bhumibol Adulyadej The Great, who wished to elevate the health and overall quality of life for all Thai citizens.
The "White Coat and Oath-Taking Ceremony" prepares medical students as they transition into their clinical clerkships at Nakhon Pathom Hospital, Phetchabun Hospital, and Chulabhorn Hospital. This milestone equips them for hands-on learning in real-world clinical environments, shaping them into high-quality and ethical physicians. Prior to this, all students completed four years of rigorous foundational medical education during their "Early Years," which included conducting intensive research at University College London (UCL) in the United Kingdom. This ceremony marks their monumental transition from lectures and laboratories to direct patient care.
"From this day forward, the students' classroom expands into hospital wards, examination rooms, and local communities. Every patient will serve as both a teacher and a vital lesson, teaching students to truly understand the meaning of illness, suffering, hope, and human dignity—forming the invaluable foundation of their medical profession."
The "White Coat" is far more than just a uniform for clinical practice; it is a symbol of societal trust, honor, dignity, and a sacred covenant that a physician holds with patients and the medical community. Donning the white coat for the first time as clinical medical students represents a formal declaration of their vow to uphold morality, medical ethics, compassion, and lifelong learning, as they gracefully embark on their professional medical journey to become a vital pillar of the nation's healthcare system.
