
On 21 January 2026, the Cancer Center, Chulabhorn Hospital, Chulabhorn Royal Academy, organized a training program entitled “A New Horizon in CRC Care: Enhancing Healthcare Workforce Competency Toward Excellence in Care.” The first session, “Innovating Oncology Care: The Journey from Inpatient Chemotherapy to Home Chemotherapy,” was presided over by Associate Professor Chanisa Chotipanich, M.D., Deputy Director of Chulabhorn Hospital, with Dr. Jomthana Siripaiboon, Director of the Cancer Center, Chulabhorn Hospital, delivering the opening report. The event was attended by physicians, nurses, and healthcare professionals at 3D–301 Lecture Hall, Srisavangavadhana College of Medicine Building, Chulabhorn Royal Academy.
This activity was conducted with the collaboration of physicians, nurses, and healthcare personnel from Chulabhorn Hospital, who delivered lectures on various topics, including innovations in cancer treatment transitioning from inpatient chemotherapy to home-based chemotherapy, as well as essential techniques for PORT care. Expert speakers included Dr. Chayanee Samdaengpan, Medical Oncologist; Dr. Thanakorn Charoenthanadol, Medical Oncologist; Dr. Parichaya Boonsung; Mr. Ekawan Dechsuranpong, Pharm.D.; along with registered nurses from the Cancer Center, Chulabhorn Hospital. The sessions focused on preparation for home chemotherapy, comprehensive care for patients receiving chemotherapy at home, and holistic patient management. In addition, the program featured workshops on PORT care techniques, elastomeric pump application, and patient counseling for home care.
The program “A New Horizon in CRC Care: Enhancing Healthcare Workforce Competency Toward Excellence in Care” was developed as a new approach to improving the quality of care for patients with colorectal cancer (CRC). It emphasizes building knowledge and understanding of the latest clinical practice guidelines, home chemotherapy administration, experience sharing through case-based learning, development of practical skills, and empowering healthcare professionals to effectively apply holistic and patient-centered care concepts.
Furthermore, the program aims to establish a learning network among healthcare professionals at various levels to collaboratively enhance standards of excellence in CRC care. It serves as a foundation for sustainable development within the national healthcare system, ultimately contributing to a reduction in morbidity and mortality from colorectal cancer and an improvement in patients’ quality of life.
