Princess Srisavangavadhana Faculty of Medicine and Chulabhorn Hospital Elevate Surgical Excellence with the 3rd International Masterclass Cadaveric Course

Princess Srisavangavadhana Faculty of Medicine (PSMD), in collaboration with Chulabhorn Hospital, Chulabhorn Royal Academy, successfully hosted the "3rd International Masterclass Cadaveric Educational Course: HK VELYS UKA TKA Cadaveric Course." This advanced orthopedic surgical workshop, held from March 28–29, 2026, aimed to elevate medical training to international standards and enhance the capabilities of healthcare professionals.

The workshop took place at the state-of-the-art Advanced Clinical Skills Center, located on the 6th floor of the Princess Srisavangavadhana College of Medicine Building in Lak Si, Bangkok.

Global Expertise in Robotic-Assisted Surgery
The program featured a distinguished faculty of leading orthopedic surgeons from top-tier hospitals and medical schools across Asia. These experts shared advanced technical skills in Unicompartmental Knee Arthroplasty (UKA) and Total Knee Arthroplasty (TKA) utilizing the VELYS™ Robotic-Assisted Solution. The esteemed speaker lineup included:

•Dr. Steve Cheung – Hong Kong Adventist Hospital, Hong Kong

•Asst. Prof. Akakasam Vanitcharoenkul M.D. – Faculty of Medicine Siriraj Hospital, Mahidol University
•Polthakorn Panichkul M.D. – Bangkok Hospital

Associate Professor Thanapon Chobpenthai M.D., Assistant Dean for Innovation Development and Educational Technology at PSMD and Project Chair, emphasized that this Masterclass was designed to provide participants with hands-on experience using soft cadavers. The curriculum focused on integrating robotic technology to maximize surgical precision, minimize patient recovery time, and improve overall clinical outcomes.

The training drew orthopedic surgeons and medical personnel from various institutions, offering a comprehensive mix of in-depth lectures, case study discussions, and intensive laboratory sessions. Participants worked closely with experts in the college’s modern facilities. As the 23rd medical school established in Thailand, Princess Srisavangavadhana Faculty of Medicine is globally recognized by the World Federation for Medical Education (WFME) through the Institute for Medical Education Accreditation and the Medical Council of Thailand.

A Hub for International Medical Innovation
This workshop not only strengthens the proficiency of both Thai and international surgeons but also reaffirms the role of Princess Srisavangavadhana Faculty of Medicine, Chulabhorn Royal Academy as a global hub for medical innovation. By fostering international academic networks and knowledge exchange, the institution continues to build a sustainable future for patient care.

Building on the success of the first two installments, this third edition utilized "Soft Cadavers" as the primary learning medium, allowing for realistic hands-on practical training. The feedback from participants has been overwhelmingly positive, highlighting the effective exchange of expertise with world-class orthopedic specialists.
