Chulabhorn Royal Academy Showcases Thai Innovation Excellence, Securing 7 Awards from 3 Innovative Projects at “Geneva 2026” in Switzerland

Chulabhorn Royal Academy (CRA) has achieved international acclaim by sending a delegation of researchers to compete in one of the world’s most prestigious invention platforms, “The 51st International Exhibition of Inventions Geneva.” Held from March 11–15, 2026, in Geneva, Switzerland, the event was organized by the Swiss Federal Government in collaboration with the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO). CRA successfully swept a total of 7 awards across 3 innovative projects, covering the fields of cosmeceuticals, medical artificial intelligence (AI), and rehabilitation technology.

Associate Professor Dr. Danupol Nantajit, Director of the Office of Research and Innovation Management at Chulabhorn Royal Academy, revealed that the innovations developed by CRA researchers drew significant interest from the judging panel and international visitors. This year, the 7 awards were distributed among the following innovations:

1. “Domesticus” Nano-Innovation: Winner of the Gold Prize and the NRCT Honorable Mention Award “Domesticus” is a nano-cosmeceutical developed from “Thai Crickets.” development led by Dr. Watchara Kanjanakawinkul, Director of the Chulabhorn Royal Pharmaceutical Manufacturing Facility under the Chulabhorn Royal Academy, in partnership with research teams from Chiang Mai University and the University of Copenhagen. This innovation elevates edible insects into high-value beauty products using nano-emulsion technology to ensure deep skin penetration, effective antioxidants, and anti-aging properties, marking a major leap for Thailand’s Bio-Economy.

2. “KidneyX” Innovation: Winner of the Silver Prize, Special Prize from the National Research Council of Thailand (NRCT), and the Certificate of Innovation Excellence from Umm Al-Qura University, Saudi Arabia “KidneyX” is a high-performance AI system designed for detecting kidney stones on KUB radiographs. Developed by Asst. Prof. Dr. Panithi Atchararit from the Chulabhorn Royal Academy’s Princess Srisavangavadhana Faculty of Medicine, in collaboration with Suthee Treewattanawong M.D. from Chiang Rai Prachanukroh Hospital and Dr. Pavaree Nontasaen from the Princess Srisavangavadhana Faculty of Medicine. The system is designed to assist physicians in remote areas, achieving diagnostic accuracy of up to 95% even in resource-limited environments.

3. “Kinec” Innovation: Winner of the Bronze Prize and the NRCT Honorable Mention Award from the NRCT “Kinec” is a bilateral movement rehabilitation innovation for bedbound patients. It utilizes the patient’s own physical force instead of motors, integrated with sensors and AI to analyze neurological recovery and help patients regain independence. This project was developed by research team from the Faculty of Health Science Technology includes Dr. Thanyaporn Wongwatjaranon, Ajarn Chattaporn Ruangthong, and Dr. Atchariya Kasiyaphut, alongside talented students Ms. Chompoonoot Sothorntepaphitak, Ms. Panitra Jansawang, and Ms. Kanyaporn Pimthaisong.

This success not only proves the potential of CRA’s researchers and the next generation of students but also reflects the vision of Chulabhorn Royal Academy in fostering "Practical Innovation." These advancements contribute to elevating the grassroots economy through nanotechnology, enhancing medical diagnostics via AI, and improving patient rehabilitation for self-reliance. This mission honors the royal aspiration of Professor Dr. Her Royal Highness Princess Chulabhorn Krom Phra Srisavangavadhana, President of Chulabhorn Royal Academy, to drive research toward tangible social benefits.
