Chulabhorn Royal Academy Hosts National Elderly Day 2026 and Songkran Festival Celebrations
Chulabhorn Royal Academy (CRA), through the Sustainable Development Department, organized a special event for National Elderly Day 2026 on the occasion of the Songkran Festival. Held under the theme “CRA: Preserving Thai Traditions, Caring for Elderly Health,” this initiative is part of the “Chulabhorn Royal Academy for Society Project.” The event took place on Wednesday, April 8, 2026, at the Laksi Youth Center, driven by a commitment to upholding Thai cultural heritage and fostering warm relationships with the elderly—the esteemed pillars of our families and communities.
The ceremony was presided over by Dr. Thakur Phanit, Acting Deputy Secretary-General of Chulabhorn Royal Academy. Joining the event were Associate Professor Associate Professor Dr. Tassana Boonthong, Acting Dean, Princess Agrarajakumari Faculty of Nursing, and Mr. Prachuap Noyamat, Assistant Director of Laksi District. They were accompanied by CRA volunteers, faculty members, and students from the Princess Srisavangavadhana College of Nursing and the School of Movement Science and Health, Faculty of Health Science Technology. Together, they welcomed over 100 elderly participants from the Laksi community.
The atmosphere was filled with goodwill, smiles, and laughter. The program featured various activities designed to promote physical health and a high quality of life, including:
- •Traditional Rod Nam Dum Hua Ceremony: A ritual to pay respect and seek blessings from the elders.
- •Basic Health Screenings: Providing essential medical check-ups for the elderly.
- •Mental & Physical Wellness Workshops: Led by second-year nursing students from the Princess Srisavangavadhana College of Nursing. Activities included:
- “Lovely Dolls” fabric folding art.
- “Colors from the Heart” tie-dye happiness workshop.
- Creative tote bag design to empower the "active aging" community.
- •Movement Skills & Physical Performance Assessment: Conducted by the School of Movement Science and Health, Faculty of Health Science Technology, to evaluate and enhance mobility.
This event, under the CRA’s Societal Contributions to Communities initiative, marks another significant step in strengthening bonds and cooperation with the communities surrounding the Academy. It provides a valuable opportunity for staff and students to apply their knowledge in practice, serving society and contributing to the creation of a sustainable, healthy community.
