Chulabhorn Hospital, Chulabhorn Royal Academy Hosts World Cancer Day 2026 Seminar "UNITED BY UNIQUE AGAINST CANCER 360 DEGREE: Embracing Every Angle, Fighting Cancer Together"
BANGKOK – February 25, 2026: Cancer remains a leading cause of death globally and in Thailand, with a continuously rising trend. Recognizing the vital importance of building awareness and understanding, Chulabhorn Hospital, Chulabhorn Royal Academy, organized a special seminar for World Cancer Day 2026. Under the concept “UNITED BY UNIQUE AGAINST CANCER 360 DEGREE,” the event aimed to provide a holistic perspective, emphasizing that every individual story has the power to transform the world of cancer care.
The event was presided over by Associate Professor Surasak Leelaudomlipi, M.D., Acting Director of Chulabhorn Hospital, alongside Dr. Jomtana Siripaiboon, Director of the Chulabhorn Cancer Center, and a panel of medical specialists and honored guests at the Convention Hall, Chulabhorn Hospital.
Associate Professor Surasak Leelaudomlipi, M.D. stated: "Chulabhorn Royal Academy is proud to host this seminar. We believe that successful cancer treatment goes beyond the most advanced technology or medication; it requires '360-degree' holistic care—supporting the body, the mind, and the overall quality of life. This mission follows the royal aspiration of Professor Dr. Her Royal Highness Princess Chulabhorn Krom Phra Srisavangavadhana to alleviate the suffering of cancer patients. Today, we have created a 'Circle of Understanding' that connects healers, patients, and caregivers, proving that 'Your Story Has Power' in driving better cancer care for everyone."
Key Seminar Highlights "Cancer is Unique to Everyone": by Jomtana Siripaiboon, M.D. and Worawat Saengwiphasnaphon, M.D. discussed the importance of early detection in gastrointestinal and liver cancers. Additionally, Dr. Watchara Kanjanagwinkul shared his personal journey as a caregiver for his mother, which now drives his mission to produce targeted therapy drugs within Thailand.
"360-Degree Care: Embracing Every Angle": Prakaithip Susilparat, M.D. shared her 12-year experience caring for her mother with Stage 4 lung cancer. She highlighted that once a patient and their family accept the reality and shift their focus from "Will they be cured?" to "How can we provide the best care?", they can live together happily despite the disease.
"Defying Stage 4: Hope, Innovation, and Quality of Breath": Cancer survivors and influencers, including Ms. Sirintip Chatiyakarn (President of Thai Cancer Society), Mr. Jarkee (Jarkee Cancer Diary), and Ms. Jitnipa (Oil Cancer Diary), shared how they navigate life with Stage 4 cancer. They redefined it not as "hopelessness," but as a call to live with mindfulness, discipline, and the pride of inspiring others through social media.
The event featured a symbolic activity called "The Light of Hope," where participants raised their phone flashlights toward a large orange ribbon. This represented how small individual stories, when united, create a powerful light to guide the way in the fight against cancer.
