On May 13, 2023, CRA students and staff of the CRA Student Volunteer Project, CRA Student Affairs, participated in two public-minded activities.  One took place in the Royal Thai Navy Sea Turtle Conservation Center, Sattahip Chon Buri and the other in Nakhon Chaiburin Shelter, Nakhon Ratchasima.

The CRA Student Volunteer Project has been carried out to instill altruism and accountability in the students.

The first group cleaned the turtle ponds and the turtles and attended a lecture about the life cycle of sea turtles, ways to nurse baby turtles and ways to conserve natural resources and environment.  The lecture made the students and staff realize the major roles of sea turtles in marine ecosystem.  Founded in 1950, the conservation center is an ecotourism destination and a learning center about sea turtles. In addition to being a research center and a hospital for injured or sick sea turtles, the center takes care of the turtle eggs, nurses the baby turtles and raises them until they are mature to be released into the sea.

The second group cleaned the dog kennels and food trays and watched dogs performing tricks.  The shelter was established according to the aspirations of Professor Dr. Her Royal Highness Princess Chulabhorn Krom Phra Sri Savangavadhana, Chairperson of the Committee for the Project Animals Free of Rabies: Human Safe from the Disease.  Her Royal Highness has been dedicated to eliminating rabies from Thailand.  The shelter is the biggest internationally standardized shelter for stray dogs in the Northeast and an exemplary shelter management for sustainable control of rabies.
